In Concurrent User license mode, the RAS Server will need a special license key to enable HOD. Once licensed, Account Users will be able to open as many Master connections to HOD-enabled machines as they want, until the limit on the total number of concurrent users is reached. If the RAS Server is licensed for HOD, then license mode fields in the Web Console menu bar and on the Gateway > Gateway Licenses page will show “CONCURRENT USERS WITH HOD”:
In our licensing model, an Account User license is consumed at the point of login. Once logged in, an Administrative or Master Account user may launch as many connections to Hosts as desired and the server will treat this as a single license. The same is true for the use of the PC-Duo Master when connected to a Gateway under this licensing model. There is presently no limit on the amount of connection windows that can be open simultaneously from a licensing perspective but the absolute maximum permitted by the fastest hardware on a single RAS server instance would be about 200.
The licensing model also permits unlimited Hosts of all types to report into the server so customers are free to deploy as many Hosts as needed. A single PC-Duo RAS server instance has a maximum upper limit of about 15,000 Hosts reporting into it when they are within the same network and are not consuming a reverse connection like an external Host would. A single PC-Duo RAS server instance has a maximum upper limit of 2,500 Hosts that can reliably report in across the internet (and are using a reverse connection).
